Assistant Director of Physical Plant (HV-NTP-871)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology plus five years full time experience in the design and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, environmental control systems or energy management systems services in HVAC or energy consulting (engineering work or similar position related to HVAC, environmental control systems or energy management systems services.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer license or Master’s Degree preferred. Experience involving significant exposure to the operation and maintenance of large facility mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and supervisory responsibility within a large complex facility are preferred.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Director of Physical Plant reports to the Director of Physical Plant and performs the following duties:
- Exercises primary responsibility for the operation of physical plant inter departmental functions.
- Exercises direct supervision over the Maintenance Supervisor I, Custodial Supervisor I and plant operation with budgetary control.
- Prioritizes work requests and assigns appropriately.
- Works with Physical Plant supervisors developing work assignments and day to day departmental functions.
- Develops and recommends, for Director’s approval, new or modified protocols for Physical Plant processes and procedures.
- Inspects mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for record keeping, efficiencies and functionality.
- Regularly monitor all energy consumption by facility and convert data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
- Organize, evaluate and submit energy consumption reports and monthly energy conservation program reports, etc. to agencies as required.
- Establishes energy conservation priorities and goals for Directors’ review and approval.
- Works with Director of Physical Plant in developing capital construction forecast and may supervise senior engineering technician as directed.
- Assumes additional duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant.
